A new friendship

Christina. A single mom of a 15 month old who is now pregnant for the 2nd time with no place to live. We welcome her here at Fatherheart and the Lord reminds me that He trembles with joy every time a new girl drives through these gates because they are entering His presence. Christina has been with us for a little over 4 months and due in 5 weeks. She is having another little girl and placing for adoption because she realizes that she cannot take care of 2 children and wants this child to experience having a mom and dad. Before Christina came to Fatherheart she was not walking with the Lord. She cussed all the time, never went to church, and pretty much did whatever she wanted. During her stay here I haven’t really noticed any spiritual growth in her and today she proved me wrong. Last week another girl joined us here at Fatherheart. She is 17 years old and has been abused all of her life by men. She has really never experienced the Lord and doesn’t really know who He is, and frankly really doesn’t care because how can she trust men, and how can God allow this to happen to her. Her and Christiana have rooms right next to each other and have really grown close the short time of her stay here. Yesterday, as I stood in the kitchen making Breanna lunch, I couldn’t help but hear their conversation, which consisted of Christina telling Hallie why she is deciding to place for adoption and how God gave her the answer and he can give Jessica one as well. I thought nothing of it.

This morning, before church began, Christiana approached me and asked me how she can tell Jessica about Jesus. What can she tell her? How can she get Hallie to change like she has? So I told her about the power of our testimonies and that she could tell Hallie to talk to Mama Brown (the house mom) or me. And that was that. We arrived at church and the worship team played the song “Rescue.” One verse in that song say “I need you Jesus, come to my rescue, where else can I go.” When the song ended Hallie came to Mama Brown in tears!! She sat down in between Mama Brown and me and just wept. Knowing how the Lord works, the whole sermon was about how He loves us and we need to have faith that we can change and forget the past. As pastor closed, he opened the altar for prayer and she began to cry harder. Mama Brown offered to go up with her, but she refused.  Christiana, who was sitting a few isles in front of us, came up and asked Hallie if she wanted to go up front and pray with her. Hallie began to cry harder and said no. Christina, who was very persistent, began walking with her to the front. Hallie resisted a few times as they were walking to the front, but eventually arrived and was getting prayed over. After the prayer team was done praying with the two girls, right in front Christian and Jessica began to hug and weep.   But it did not end there.

Christina spent this Sunday afternoon going over scriptures that she has learned during her stay here. She told me “Hallie and I are going to have a little pow wow and go over these scriptures. She needs to change like I have and I feel God is using me. We are also going to have a talk about her accepting Christ into her life. I just want her to change like I have, and I am afraid she won’t.” So I began to explain to her that she is planting a seed in Hallie’s heart, and it will be Hallie’s decision to water it and help make it grow.
Hallie in the middle and Christina on the right

Please join me in prayer, pray that Christina continues her walk with the Lord after she leaves Fatherheart, and that Hallie will water that seed. J

From Ashes to Beauty

Jordan and Richard Zane
"My life has been chaotic up untill June 21, 2011. I came to Fatherheart Maternity Home and my life changed for good. God had given me another chance again. Coming out of a rehab facility into a structured christian environment really helped me. While being here at Fatherheart, I chose to place my son Richard Zane, with an AMAZING christian family who serves in YWAM. I gave birth to my little boy on December 27, 2011, and had the wonderful opportunity to spend two days in the hospital with him, and 2 more after before I placed him on December 31, 2011. I had many confirmations from the Lord about placing my son with the family I chose, and the best part is that I know them and trust them whole heartly! I have started a new chapter in my life, and have confidence that the Lord will continue to open doors for me and bless me. I love my son with all my heart and thats why I chose LIFE for him. I love the Lord, and love worshipping Him, and love spending time with Him. I am excited about being here at Fatherheart volunteering!"

Sitting next to Jordan are Richard Zane's adoptive parents
I have been so blessed to see God move in Jordan's life during her stay here at Fatherheart and am so excited to watch her Grow even more as God begins to reveil to her that she is His princess and watch her turn those ashes into beauty.

Your love NEVER fails

The impact of music. I never knew how much a simple song could really bring change in ones life until today. Today I went grocery shopping for Fatherheart and took 3 of the girls with me. All 3 have had a very rough past and have ran from God. As we were on our way to Sams I hooked up my ipod and we began to listening to "Your Love Never Fails" by Jesus Culture. Please read the lyrics of the WHOLE song.

Nothing can separate
Even if I ran away
Your love never fails

I know I still make mistakes
But You have new mercies for me everyday
Your love never fails

Chorus:
You stay the same through the ages
Your love never changes
There may be pain in the night but joy comes in the morning

And when the oceans rage
I don't have to be afraid
Because I know that You love me
Your love never fails

Verse 2:
The wind is strong and the water's deep
But I'm not alone in these open seas
Cause Your love never fails

The chasm is far too wide
I never thought I'd reach the other side
But Your love never fails

Bridge:
You make all things work together for my good

So as the song is playing I look to my right then look in my rearview mirror and realize all three of these girls are singing this song. And it hits me. Listen to what this song is declaring. Every single verse and chorus is declaring that even though we have messed up... He makes all things work together for MY good. Just a few months ago these girls were running the streets and hanging with the wrong crowd. And now here they are at Fatherheart worshiping Him and singing out to Him.

And so it's really bigger than just a song. It's you who makes it possible for not only me but all the staff at Fatherheart to keep Fatherheart going because when these girls come through the gates of Fatherheat, they may think they are coming to just a maternity home (I did), but they are really entering into the Lords presence and seeds are going to be planted!! THANK YOU
